about

Who Am I?

My name is Andrew, and I am the owner of  BFV Media, which started as BigFella Videography in late-2019… right before the pandemic hit.

Great time to start a business!

I wanted a change of pace from working a lot of different jobs in a variety of sectors, and chose to form my own company under the Govt’s NEIS program. After a lot of factors had been overcome (pandemic, natural disasters, moving places, etc.) it was finally time to get things moving.

I had made the BFV Youtube channel already, and at the time I was more focused on making vlogs as a way to get my content out to prospective collaborators.

In 2019 (and earlier) I was already making automotive content alongside a few other creators who were in the photographic realm. I chose to stick to videographic media and kept car/automotive content aside from my business goals, as this segment seemed a bit too saturated.

It was always a dream and a goal of mine to have the channel monetised, adding to the structure of the business’ profitability, but as a creator there’s no way to tell when that goal will be realised, as it’s somewhat beyond our reach to achieve. A lot of factors are in play beyond when you upload a video, ie. it depends on Youtube, its viewers and your watchtime and subscribership to make that monetisation a reality. This finally happened by surprise in July of 2024.

One of my videos on frog hotels hit the Youtube homepage, and things snowballed from there. Not really the type of content I wanted to enable monetisation on my channel, but it was welcome nonetheless.

My home is the Northern Rivers of NSW, though I lived most of my life in Sydney. Living in this area, I’ve come to realise that I have an affinity for nature shots and sky photography – generally anything that is impressive and that can potentially tell a good story. That being said, I’m looking to expand my horizons more to include other areas, and this is where collaborations come in.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have spent time travelling overseas to USA and Canada, for what was some pretty epic scenery and wildlife shoots, as well as some astrophotography at Jasper, Canada. The imagery captured over there just doesn’t compare to anything locally, and it’s in these moments where you can find the inspiration to do more than what you set out to.

I operate as a Sole Trader and I’m open to discuss potential projects with interested parties. I’d prefer local contacts but will consider work from Gold Coast, Qld to Coffs Harbour, NSW.
